Curriculum & Instruction

Teachers at HJIS:

Possible Duties at HJIS

Teachers typically teach an average of 20 periods per week, with teaching loads fluctuating between 18 and 23 periods depending on operational needs; supervision and substitution duties are assigned with careful consideration of teacher workload and overall school operations.

Depending on the department and programme needs, duties may include:

    • Supervising IB projects (e.g., Extended Essay, Personal Project)
    • Supporting student service initiatives or clubs
    • Office hours to support student learning
    • Participation in the Advisory or well-being programme
    • Active supervision of students during non-class times
    • Leading or assisting in school events, field trips, and Expedition Weeks
    • Providing substitution coverage when needed
    • Conducting online or hybrid lessons when required

 

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Teaching Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience with secondary learners
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, or a related subject area
  • Desired: Experience with the IB DP and/or MYP frameworks
  • Preferred: Experience teaching in international or multicultural school settings

Digital Literacy & Technology Skills

Applicants should be proficient with:

  • Google Suite
  • Zoom
  • ManageBac
  • Interactive Smartboard technology
  • Apple products (MacBooks, iMacs)
