MYP/DP Math Teacher

Horizon Japan International School (HJIS) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced MYP/DP Math Teacher to join our team. This position requires a dynamic educator committed to delivering high-quality mathematics education within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework for both the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). The ideal candidate will inspire a passion for mathematics, foster critical thinking, and support students in achieving academic excellence.

Secondary School Learning Support Teacher’s Responsibilities include:

  • Teach MYP and DP Mathematics classes, providing engaging and challenging learning experiences that align with IB standards.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students while meeting curriculum requirements.
  • Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Use data and insights from student assessments to inform instruction and enhance learning outcomes.
  • Engage actively in IB-related professional development and stay current with MYP and DP standards and practices.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and department heads to develop interdisciplinary units and share best practices.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and support needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Teaching certification with a specialization in secondary education or mathematics.
  • Minimum of [2-5] years of teaching experience in the IB MYP and/or DP Math curriculum preferred.
  • Experience teaching DP AA or AI at Higher Level, with a strong grasp of the Extended Essay.
  • Knowledgeable in the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework.
  • Strong knowledge of the IB philosophy and experience in delivering inquiry-based, concept-driven instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

Working Hours Working Days
8:00am – 4:30pm Monday-Friday
